"Sourced from two different plots, this inky, ripe wine highlights the variability of terroir within Cornas and the plushness of Syrah vinified with 100% destemmed grapes. It certainly shows the ripe, sunny style of the vintage and brings ample fruit, richness, and power, yet it still has incredible focus as well as purity and freshness. Black raspberries, cassis, blueberries, violets, bacon fat, and peppery notes all emerge from the glass, and it has no hard edges and a sensational mouthfeel that keeps you coming back to the glass. Cornas är den mycket lilla regionen i norra Rhône, endast kring 280 HA stort. Cornas ligger brevid superkändisarna Hermitage och Côte Rôti och har inte alls fått samma fokus - trots att viner från Cornas förtjänar uppmärksamhet. Här växer Syrah under heta somrar och kalla vintrar. Cornas Syrah är den druva som mognar tidigast och skördas först. (för den vetgirige, Cornas betyder \"burnt earth\") Vinerna är bläcklila i färgen, kryddiga, robusta och tuffa, tanninrika och strama som unga. Men helt underbara. Absolut ett vin för lagring - lägg fem flaskor i källaren, smygöppna den sjätte, dekantera ordentligt och servera till pepparstek. Ett komplext intensivt vin med björnbär och lakritstoner, tydliga men silkiga tanniner och mörka frukter. Johann Michel är en liten odlare och vi får dessvärre mycket få flaskor. Vi tar tacksamt emot allt vi får köpa.
